Total Fun. Get what they recommend or be delighted with the menu. We went back again tonight. We need this place in Reno Nv!
Classics reimagined. Love me some ono grindz! We ordered the Ahi Katsu, Poke Nachos and the Lau Lau plate. All supa ono but I personally like less sauce so I will ask for it on da side next time! Oh and get the lilikoi mini cheesecake! You can't leave without a dessert! Service was fast and efficient. FYI the drive thru line is for already placed pickup orders, not ordering and picking up on the fly.
Service: We came about an hour before closing and the service was great. They were quick with taking our order and shared great recommendations. Food: what we ordered: ahi katsu, chicken katsu, poke nachos. The food was YUM, we were amazed by how crunchy the katsu was and yet so thin and light. I had so much leftover after dinner. The ahi katsu was just as great, the crunchy crust with the melty ahi in the middle. The poke nachos were so good and filling. DEFINITELY coming back here soon! Thought about them our whole trip!
Nice place to start after arriving at Lihue Airport for the weekend. Food : 4-star Good local Hawaiian plate dishes. Typical rice and Mac salad with a choice of meats. We liked the garlic chicken and spicy chicken, meat Jun, and lechon (pork belly). dishes -would have preferred the Mac salad had been cold, not room temperature. For dessert, we enjoyed the ube tarts but the lilikoi tarts were the best part. Service : not table service; order at the counter. Facility:3 star -typical island quick-food facility
Food: we got the Ahi Katsu, their popular menu, and the locomoco your way with hamburger patties. Both of them are recommended, but don't get the Spam Musubi; so far haven't found any good ones around the island, sadly. Service: Nice and helpful. Ambiance: Comfortable casual eating place.
Wailua Drive-In, featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, was a fun stop during our time in Kauai. A rookie mistake I made was thinking it was a full-service drive-thru--it's not. You must order your food online, and then you can pick it up at the drive-thru once it's ready. We tried several items, and the Butter Garlic Shrimp and ube mini cheesecake were amazing--definitely 5/5! The ube mini cheesecake is the perfect size for one person and a must-try. However, the popular Chili Pepper Chicken and Kalua Pig & Cabbage didn't impress me as much, which was disappointing. Overall, though, I enjoyed the food, and it's worth a stop if you're in Kauai. Mahalo!
Tried the famous Chili Peoper Chicken and it was good. The chicken had a good flavor. It coined have been a little bit more crunchy. A nice amount of rice and the Mac salad was very good. Not the best customer service. We let the woman behind the counter know we had never been there and she wasn't helpful in answering our questions. Kind of rude about it in fact. Not too large of a seating area but you can done-in. They call you up when your food is ready.
Put on your nicest shades and your clean pressed flame t shirt and speed over to this place If you get the chance. Guy Fierri rolls out with some of the nations best diners drive ins and dives. And he don't lie. Idk why Wailua drive in is called a drive in other than the fact that it was on DDD, but that doesn't make it any less delicious. The crispy spicy chicken had such great flavor. The garlic shrimp was so packed with garlic and spices that my wife probably won't kiss me for weeks. There was so much sauce that even peeling the shrimp didn't take away from the flavor.
I was expecting more of a dive, but this a modern, casual restaurant serving tasty dishes that didn't break the bank. Our resort team sent us here after I asked for a local, casual restaurant serving Hawaii cuisine and this totally delivered. With a relatively small amount of seating indoors, our party split between a table and counter seating. The walls by the counter seating are filled with colorful, cute, and inspirational post-it notes. The favorite dishes were the Fried Noodles which were filled with meat (lup cheong sausage, spam, and kamaboko) and the fried brussel sprouts (Vietnamese honey glaze). The rest of the group got plate lunches and yes, a hamburger. Would absolutely return on our next visit to Kauai.
